Winter- Youth Club

Folkstyle wrestling is the UIL sponsored wrestling season and is wrestled across the United States. This is the style most similar to men’s collegiate style wrestling.  High school males looking to wrestle in college must be proficient in folkstyle.  While training typically starts at least a month beforehand, the folkstyle season begins in mid-November and culminates with the UIL State Wrestling Tournament in late February.  While wrestlers in this style must be able to score on their feet (neutral), the primary emphasis is the ability to either keep someone on the wrestling mat (top) or to get up off the matt
